Hey Guys.

Is it just me, or is every Greek Viper doomed to be dirty. The Greeks have the coolest Aegean ghost camo scheme. But why do the always have to look so Dirty?? I think its such a shame!

Does anybody know why? Maybe there is some yet undiscovered business to do for the "Turtle Wax" importer in Greece.....

That's like a comment a senior greek driver did when I was joking about the same issue.
He said that the dirt is "gun-powder"!

That's right, Greek vipers are very used and fly most of their flying hours over the Aegean sea where the salty water environment takes it's toll.

Yes I have......all you need to do is walk past one and you get dirty. Another very dirty one is the Brits old F-4K's and M's. Speaking of whick does anyone know what they ever did with those?

The sad fact is that the Greeks don't have much of a corrosion control program for any of their aircraft. Washing schedules are nonexistent. Back when we first brought the first F-16s into the country I saw F-5s with major problems related to lack of corrosion control and figured that the F-16s were destined for the same treatment. We addressed the issue with their maintenance chief and for a year or so there was some effort but that slowly went away. The jets at Nea Anhelios are starting to show some signs of this lack of preventative maintenance. Haven't seen any of the newer jets but they're probably not doing much better.

Cleanest of all are probably the Polish birds right now, or maybe the UAE Block 60s, due to lack of flight hours? Smile

Greece finalized a $1.77-billion deal with Washington on Friday for the acquisition of 50 F-16 C/D (Block +50) warplanes to supplement its current fleet of F-16s.

Yeah, that's quite right what greekviper stated, they corrode their vipers over Aegean waters chasing Turkish counterparts. Below is the Turkish General Staff website reporting the scrambles performed by the Greek AF against TuAF flying over international waters.

I have an invitation BTW, Why dont the greek guys come over to Turkey to Anatolian Eagle exercises? I think it's the only NATO force which has not ever participated in these exercises. Come on guys, let's fly together over Konya, let us see what you have in near-to-real combat environment...

Why don't both countries take their F-16s and use them for what they're supposed to be for; in support of NATO ground forces, presently, in Afghanistan. Then, you could both have "real" combat experience since the last time you guys got any was when you were shooting at each other over Cyprus.

That should keep everybody happy until we have to work over the big bear, Ivan, to the North

That's the point greek viper, I wish we could come to an agreement on the FIR and terrotorial issues on and over Aegean sea. On the flight safety, beleive me, we obey the rules, otherwise I am 100% sure, you would have already taken us to EU court several hundred times just because of that Smile

As far as I know, greek air force has not involved in the Cyprus war much other than the C-47s transporting paratroopers to the island. Just a few dog fights over Aegean as normal but not more than that.

For real guys, why dont you come over to Anatolian Eagle? you are the ones we like most to engage in mock-up dog-fights, not Holland, Belgium, Italy, Jordan or UAE...

The type over Cyprus was Noratlas and you are right it was only that.
I,m sure the politicians can solve the issues if they want to.

How can you obey the rules when you enter in another FIR without Submitting a flight plan to the authorities that are responsible for the air traffic within it?

About anatolian eagle i really don't know if we have been invited.
