Minnesota.

Jake

83-1162 technically hasn't been delivered to AMARC yet. It is on the ramp at the 162FW's alert facility at D-M waiting for a spot to open at AMARC. I was told it should be towed in sometime within the next week or two.

So 148FW receive other "less old" blk 25's to maintain their numbers?

Hi again Niels,

Yes, the 148th FW has received Block-25s from the 147th FW in Texas and as You say those "new" ones are FY 85 models.

Greetings,

Henrik.

Any of these Vipers have anywhere near the same hours as 83-1165?

Niels, old buddy - most Block-25s are on the 5000+ side regarding flight hours. Some Block-30s are in the high 5000 now!!!!

Greetings,

Henrik.

Thanks Jake for the pics! VT's 136 was a pig in Iraq last fall. I don't know about her other than that time, maybe she was a good jet, but in Iraq she was broke a lot (same as our 84-1236...must be something about 36's...heh).

Niels, most of our 122FW/163FS block 25s are in the 5,000s with only a couple pushing 6,000 I think. My jet (84-1394) has around 5,100 and will be heading to AMARC probably by the end of this year or very early 09. Should be one of the last to go.

Thanks any way crazyal611

Does any one know the answer to this following question?

A lot of aircraft have been going to Hill AFB's Ogden facility for upgrades. Who owns the aircraft while they are at Ogden? Generally does the past squadron still own the aircraft? Or does the new receiving squadron own the aircraft?

I know of one aircraft that went to the Vermont ANG. It then was quickly sent to Ogden, Utah after being accepted by the 134th FS. Is that typical?

Hi Jon,

Generally the previous squadron "owns" the aircraft in question. Sometimes the aircraft in question goes through its former base/unit for acceptance before transferring to its new unit - and a new acceptance in fact!!

The aircraft You mentions is 87-0332 and it transferred to Vermont as the first Block-30 from Montana just to leave for Falcon STAR and final CUPID mods a week later. I believe this transfer was more of a symbolic one as the VT ANG will swap 87-0332 with another example from the AL ANG as 332 is to be the new flag ship in the re-activated 100th FS / 332nd FG as a tribute to the Tuskeegee airmen of WW2.

In many other cases the aircraft goes to Ogden ALC and returns to the same unit it came from.

Hope it helps.

Greetings,

Henrik.

The 158th FW in Vermont has received its first two-seater, F-16D 86-0046, and should get another one in 2009. Forgot to ask where 046 was coming from when I visited on August 13. The unit still has a few unmarked tails and two jets with SI codes. A few block 25s are still there and 83-1165 will be the last one to fly in the Fall.

Cheers,

Mephisto,

86-0046 came from the 186th FS / 120th FW in Great Falls, Montana.

Greetings,

Henrik.

Henrik,

I have just uploaded some pics from the 158th FW and one of their first F-16D. Some jets are still without tail markings but they all have their proper intake and seat covers with their numbers! Enjoy the pics.

Wonderful photos, Mephisto - thanks a lot!!

Another BRAC-transfer took place in the evening os Aug. 27th 2008 as 87-0320 arrived in its new home in the 188th FS / 150th FW of the NM ANG at Kirtland AFB, NM.

87-0320 served the 170th FS / 183rd FW at Capitol Apt. in Springfield-Illinois and was up until its transfer marked "183rd FW".

Greetings,

Henrik.

Henrik,

Next in the area to loose their F-16s will be the 174th FW/NY ANG. And it will happen sooner than we think. I was glad to catch four of them at Wheeler Sack and among them, the 138th FS jet. I have uploaded some pics on F-16.net! Enjoy it!
