Hello all, I was wondering if anyone could help .

My husband lost his job just a few weeks before our first baby was to be born . She will be 3 months old on the 15th and he still has yet to find a job. He has been looking like crazy.

He spends all day sending out his resume on the computer . And working with job placement agencies . But we are running out of time and money.
His love is the f-16. He worked on them for 10-1/2 years in the air force as a 7-Level F-16 Tactical Aircraft Maintenance Craftsman .(E 5)

And 2-1/2 years at Lockheed as a F-16 Completion Supervisor. His resume is immaculate but its mostly f-16 experience. and his is having a hard time finding openings for f-16 work. I know if he could just get his resume in the right hands anyone who gave him a shot wouldn't be sorry.
If anyone knows of any openings.

We are in Texas now but we will gladly relocate

Has your husband looked into the Air National Guard or the Air Force Reserve? In what state do you live? There may be a 16 base there.

When I first got out of the Air Force. I was hoping to find a job working on helicopters. Because thats what I had been doing most of the time I was in. But after awhile. You start looking for any job that pays the bills.

I can tell you from experience. That most of the resumes that are sent are not read. The second shop I worked at had two fax machines. One for customers and suppliers. And the one with the listed fax number for people sending resumes. Every few days we would just throw the resumes in the trash.

If you want a job. The best thing to do is type up a one page resume. With the basics and contact information. And start knocking on doors. Start in the local area. And work you way out. Thats how I got my first job outside the Air Force.

If you wait for the Goverment to hire you. Or keep hoping for that dream job. You will go hungry.

Good Luck

I see that you are located in Texas. If you go to www.tx.ang.af.mil, you will see the 147th FW and the 149th FW are both F-16 ANG units. One is in San Antonio and one is in Houston. They should also have pay scales for WG, WL, and WS pay grades on that website, or they may have AGR positions open, which pays by your rank, just like the Air Force. I highly recommend the guard!! Best of luck to you!!

Christine have him look at www.boeing.com at their jobs. There is a job at Fallon Nevada for a aircraft plane captain working the navy f-16's and f-18s up there.

Here are some openings:
https://ww2.afpc.randolph.af.mil/resweb ... ++++++++++
I'm an ART (Air Reserve Technician) at Luke AFB. If your husband is still eligible for service in the Reserves, that might be a good option. We are Civilians during the normal work week. One weekend a month we come in in uniform with the traditional reservists and train them. The pay is pretty good and the benefits are very good. Our ART crewchiefs are either WG-10s or WG-11s. 10s start at $21.02/hr and 11s at $22.10 here in Phoenix. There are also straight civilian positions out there, but mostly with active duty units.

Edit-- When you click on the link, go to "advanced", click on the dropdown menu by title, and select "Aircraft Mechanic" or whatever else applies.
