I'm doing a paper for school on a possible career field, and i've tried finding information on the need for pilots. Does anyone know of where i can get some info on this?

contact a recruiter or local airbase. Tell them what you are doing and I'm sure they will be very helpful. Ask to speak with someone who has a few minutes to talk and have your questions ready. If no one is available ask for a name and best time to call.
