I started at Nellis in 1980, Oct 29. Worked blk 10 and 10A ,first wipe on 79-0370, 79-0358 and 79-0365 until Sep 1984. TDY to Hawaii in 81, Cold Lake 82, awesome food there,Puerto Rico 83, Key West 83 Bentwaters 84 and others to Luke, Holloman and I know there's one more someplace! Moved to The Kun in 84 crewed 80-0570 the whole year. Went TDY to the P.I. (nice time there!)and Okinawa. Left Kun in 84 for Bergstom in Austin Tx. I worked R&R/ Crash Recovery on those nasty F-4's. What a move from electric jet to the manual flight controls. I volunteered for the Kun again and got it (much to my surprise!) in 88. Spent 2 yrs there and seperated. Went onto work for The Navy at Miramar's Topgun School and VF-126. They had Blk 30 smallmouth with no gun. Flew the crap out of those jets. Now I am a humble civil servant at Hill. We kinda Crew Chief there.

This was an awesome jet. I used to bargain quarters from pilots winnings it was such a good bombing jet, not to mention it's accuracy with the gun. Had a pilot change the rounds counter, I told him he didn't need to do that if HE could shoot, turned out he got busted for too many hits in the rag!
Other aircraft/assignments Did some work on F-18's at Miramar after they gave away the 16's. F-18's are not as reliable as a 16 is, don't let anybody try to fool ya. Also worked some sheetmetal on the mighty Hercules.

Hey Rus. Is your wife still going upside your head with the pump-heel shoes when you come home late?
